Melbourne MasterTalk with Costa Daniel Kassab
AIT students, graduates, and even some future students joined us on the Melbourne campus to hear all about Costaâs incredible career. From a childhood spent drawing, to further study and professional roles with some of Australiaâs most prestigious studios, Costaâs story held our audience of aspiring creatives captivated.
Ludo Studio’s Bluey is a show that has claimed a special place in our cultural landscape, and itâs easy to see why itâs so much more than just a kidâs show. The simple episodes talk about everyday Australian life, and present the eponymous character Blueyâs Blue Heeler family with such warmth, and her adventures in the world with such wonder that itâs hard not to get attached.Â
The showâs creators have made a world that children and adults alike want to spend time in, and they are clearly very attached to the stories they are presenting, as we all discovered when Costa mentioned that the episodes that have Blueyâs audience in tears can also make the Ludo Studio crew cry.Â
During his presentation, Costa shared sketches with us of the things that fill him with wonder, like a night sky full of stars, and urged students to bring their own passions and experiences into their work so that it would also be filled with life.Â
Out of all the wisdom that Costa shared, one thing that he repeated was the importance of enjoying the process of creating art. In a world where anyone can make âartâ in an instant through the use of generative AI tools, Costa urged students to keep practising and creating, so that they can bring their own experiences and passions to create something that is truly unique.
We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed this very special MasterTalk, and all of us here at AIT would like to once again extend our thanks to Costa for not only sharing his wisdom, but for being so generous with his time, meeting with and talking to our students and graduates.Â
The MasterTalk series has enabled AIT to introduce some very special guest speakers to our students over the years, hosting creative art director, Damien Drew (Alien: Covenant), Colin Gibson (Mad Max), Deborah Riley (Game of Thrones), Lewis Morley (The Matrix, Star Wars), Disney animator Jose Velaya (The Lion Guard, The Simpsons), Dennis Jones (VFX on Mortal Kombat for Rising Sun Pictures) and many more.
